Who it's for
Anyone who starts with a script and wants a finished video, without handing every decision to the AI.
The solo faceless creator
Runs a YouTube channel with no face on camera. Writes the script, hates the editing.
- Wants
- A long video every week, plus reels, without paying an editor.
- Does in vbe
- Pastes a script, picks a voice, changes a few scenes, renders, keeps three reels.
The course educator
Teaches online. Turns lessons into short videos for a course or a class.
- Wants
- Clear, calm videos that look the same across a whole course.
- Does in vbe
- Wide videos, no subscribe card, the same look saved once and reused.
The small business
Owner or marketer. Needs a video now and then, not every week.
- Wants
- One good video about a product or service, in their brand colours, fast.
- Does in vbe
- The sample script, their logo and colours, one render. Little tweaking.
The freelancer or agency
Makes videos for several clients, each with their own name and look.
- Wants
- One vbe for many clients, kept apart, billed separately.
- Does in vbe
- Switches between clients, each with its own settings, voice and pictures.
Catch it before you pay for it
AI is fast, and it is wrong often enough to waste your money. vbe stops at the points where a mistake would cost you, so you fix it once, before it is made, not after a render.
Before the voice
A clean recording, first time
vbe checks the script for problems that would spoil the narration, then shows you the cost. Nothing is recorded until you say yes.
Before the pictures
Pay for each picture once
You see the scene plan, how many new pictures it needs and what they will cost. When a place or person comes back, vbe reuses the picture instead of paying for it again.
Before the render
Nothing renders from a plan you didn't see
You approve the plan once, and vbe keeps a record of what you approved. Change it later and vbe asks again. Rendering on your own computer costs nothing in AI fees.
In development
Fix one scene, not the whole video
Type a change in plain words, like "make it evening". See the before and after and the cost of the new picture, then keep it or undo it.
Checking and correcting the AI's work happens at these stops, and it counts in the time we report.

AI proposes. vbe validates. You decide.
Built this way on purpose
A few choices that make vbe different from the video tools you may already know.
Your videos stay on your computer
Your scripts, pictures and finished videos are saved on your own computer, and the video is rendered there. When you approve an AI step, only what that step needs is sent through vbe to the AI service that does the work.
One account, vbe credits
No AI accounts to set up. You buy vbe credits and spend them only on the steps you approve, with the cost shown before each one.
Made for script-led videos
Explainers, faceless channels, courses and business videos. Your script is the star, so there are no avatars or presenters.
Mac and Windows, done properly
One app, built once and made well for both. The same steps, checks and approvals on a Mac or a Windows PC.
Built for a real channel first
vbe started as the production system behind rethink normal, a Canadian personal finance channel with a new video every week. You can watch it on YouTube.
Off the shelf AI video tools could not keep scenes consistent or give enough control, so I built the steps, the checks and the approvals myself. Now I am turning that system into an app any creator can use.
My own estimate, not yet measured. Timed results from my next videos will be published in the Build log.

Hi, I'm Aman
Aman Sabarwal · Founder, vbe and rethink normal · Winnipeg, Canada
Business analyst and product owner. Building vbe because I needed it for my own videos.
Building in public
What has happened so far. New lines get added as vbe grows.
- vbe is now being built for Windows as well as Mac: one app, with the same steps, checks and approvals on both. About three in four computers in the world run Windows, so far more creators will be able to use it. We will share a date once it has made a full video on a real Windows PC.
- The second rethink normal video made in vbe. Timing every stage starts with the next one. Watch it
- rethink normal's newest video, comparing a student credit card with a regular one, was made start to finish in vbe. Watch it
- videobuildengine.com and the waitlist opened.
- Work began on turning vbe from one channel's tool into an app any creator can use.
- vbe started, as the production system behind rethink normal.
Questions
The things creators ask first.
Which computers will vbe run on?
Mac and Windows. vbe is built as one app for both, with the same steps and checks on each. Before launch I will say exactly which computers are fast enough.
Do I need my own AI accounts?
No. You will buy vbe credits in your vbe account and spend them only on the AI steps you approve, such as planning the scenes and making the pictures. The voice and captions run on your own computer. You don't need a YouTube account or anything else.
What will a video cost me in AI fees?
It depends on how long the video is and how many new pictures it needs. Inside vbe you see the cost in credits before every paid step, and nothing is spent until you say yes. Before launch I will publish a worked example with real prices.
How much time does vbe save?
On my own channel, Rethink Normal, building one video by hand used to take me 40 to 50 hours over about five days. With vbe, going from a finished script to a rendered video now takes about one long day; on my latest video, about ten hours. Writing the script and posting afterwards are not included. That is my own estimate, not a measured study, and I built the tool, so someone new will be slower at first. From my next video I am timing every stage, including the time spent checking and fixing what the AI suggests, first on my own videos and then with early users. I will publish those numbers here.
How much will vbe cost?
The price isn't set yet. People on the waitlist will hear it first.
Does vbe see my scripts or videos?
Your scripts and videos are saved on your own computer, and the video is rendered there. When you approve an AI step, the text and instructions that step needs are sent through vbe's server to the AI service that does the work. vbe is being built not to keep your scripts or videos. The Privacy Policy has the details.
Do I need a YouTube channel?
No. vbe makes a finished video file. Where it goes is up to you: YouTube, a website, a course, or just your own computer.
