The short version
- The only personal information we hold is the email address you give us to join the waitlist, and a few details that come with it.
- We use it to tell you about vbe. We never sell it, and we never use it for advertising.
- This website has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies.
- You can leave the list at any time from the link in any email, and ask us to delete everything.
- vbe is being built so that your scripts, videos and keys stay on your own computer. We don't see them.
Who we are
vbe | video build engine is built and run by Aman Sabarwal in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. On this page, "we" and "us" mean him. He is responsible for your information and answers every question about it himself: [email protected].
What we collect when you join the waitlist
- Your email address.
- Which of the two forms on the page you used.
- How you found us, when your browser or the link tells us: the website you came from, or a tag in the link such as
?ref=linkedin. - The country your connection came from. Cloudflare works this out from your IP address. We don't store the IP address.
- When you joined, a random code that makes your unsubscribe link work, and the dates we emailed you or you left the list.
That is all. We don't ask for your name, and we never buy or rent lists.
Why we collect it
- To send you one welcome email when you join.
- To tell you when vbe is ready to try, and now and then how the building is going.
- How you found us and your country tell us which posts are working and where people are. We look at these as totals, not person by person.
We only email you about vbe. By joining, you agree to that, and you can change your mind at any time.
The quick check on the form
To stop bots filling the waitlist, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile. It looks at signals from your browser to tell a person from a bot. Cloudflare says it does not use this to track you or to show you ads. Its handling is covered by Cloudflare's privacy policy, linked below.
Who else handles your information
Two companies help us run the list. They work on our behalf and may only use your information to provide their service to us.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and stores the waitlist. Like any web host, it sees your IP address and browser details when you visit. Cloudflare's privacy policy
- Resend sends our emails. It receives your email address and the emails we send you. Resend's privacy policy
Both may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is there, the courts and authorities of that country may be able to reach it under their laws.
We never sell, rent or trade your information.
Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies of its own. It has no analytics, no advertising pixels and no tracking scripts. The fonts and images come from this site, not from Google or anyone else. Cloudflare may set a cookie that is strictly needed to protect the site from attacks.
We don't track whether you open our emails or click the links in them.
How long we keep it
We keep your details while you are on the list. If you unsubscribe, we keep only your email address and the date you left, so that we never email you again by mistake. If you would rather we delete even that, ask and we will. If vbe ever closes, we will delete the list.
Your choices
- Leave the list: use the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email. One click is enough.
- See, correct or delete what we hold: email [email protected]. We will reply within 30 days.
- Complain: if you are not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you live outside Canada, your own privacy authority may also be able to help.
Keeping it safe
The list sits in Cloudflare's database, and only Aman can reach it. Our emails are sent over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly safe. If something ever went wrong in a way that could harm you, we would tell you and the Privacy Commissioner, as Canadian law requires.
Children
The waitlist is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has joined, tell us and we will delete it.
When the app is ready
vbe is a desktop app that runs on your computer. This is how it is being built:
- Your scripts, pictures, voices and finished videos are saved on your computer. They are not sent to us.
- If you use your own accounts with AI services such as OpenAI or ElevenLabs, vbe sends each request from your computer straight to that service, under its own terms and privacy policy. Your keys stay on your computer.
- We never use your work to train AI. We never receive it.
Before the first download, we will update this policy to cover the app in full, including anything the app itself sends to us, such as a check for updates. If we ever offer a plan where requests pass through a vbe service of our own, this policy will say exactly what passes through it before that plan is offered.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change matters to you, we will email everyone on the list before it takes effect.
